Social Action

Project GivebackOn November 19, 2011, the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter held its second annual Project Giveback Day. The service project was held at the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter Multipurpose Facility. Project Giveback is a community initiative to feed over 1,000 families by providing boxes containing food items such as turkeys, ground beef, pork sausage, bacon, cans of vegetables, fruits, and other non-perishables. Enough food was provided that it would feed a family for two weeks.

This year we were able to raise donations to feed 70 families. Over 30 brothers of the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter, the Kappa League of the chapter, the George Mason University Chapter, the Mu Mu of Kappa Alpha Psi, the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta all volunteered.

This effort was led by Brother Charles F. Parker Jr., Board Member and Co Chair for the Social Action Committee. The Project Giveback committee consisted of Co-Chair Brother Ron Hanley, Brother Will Gutherie and Brother Barry Brooks all of the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter. The Fairfax County local firefighters unloaded the truck that delivered the boxes. For more information about Project Giveback 2015 please contact Charles F. Parker Jr.,
