About NSBE Jr.

The Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) National Society of Black Engineers Junior (AF NSBE JR.) Chapter meets Sunday’s from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Multipurpose Facility located at 6343 South Kings Highway Alexandria, VA.
AF-NSBE Jr. Chapter can help cultivate the intellectual, entrepreneurial and technical talent of students in our community. Parents and students are invited o learn about our programs that are designed to stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields (STEM) in grades 6-12.

Our chapter will have opportunities to travel to regional and national STEM competitions. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the following competitions:
- Engineering Design building robots (LEGO Mindstorm, or VEX) with experienced professionals
- National Science Fairs
- Model Rocket Community day
- Software and Video Game Programming Classes
- Try-Math-a-Lon, an ACT/SAT math preparation competition.
We have found these opportunities to be vital in shaping students’ awareness of science, technology, engineering and math careers.
The NSBE Jr. Chapter is part of the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. Fraternity’s Guide Right program, which provides a host of activities to help students discover and relate to the world around them through academic excellence, leadership, personal development, and teamwork.
